Barry van Leeuwen completed his BSc in Mathematics at the University of Bristol in 2019, continuing his studies to obtain a MSc by Research from the same university studying Algebra and Number Theory in particular. Barry then moved to KU Leuven in Belgium to work with Prof. Nigel Smart to obtain his PhD in Cryptography focusing on Secure Multi-Party Computation and Fully Homomorphic Encryption in 2024.

Before his journey into academia Barry was the Training and Recruitment Manager for Hamleys Scandianavia (250-500 employees) and the Marketing Coordinator in South-West England (25-50 employees), with an accumulated 12 years of retail experience.
